We are Leigh Scott and Mark Cohen, a married couple creating photographic art under the name Focal Pointers. We are avid outdoor adventurers who enjoy landscape and wildlife photography. Our Canon cameras and lenses are an essential part of our outdoor gear, just as important as comfortable boots and a pair of sturdy trekking poles. Our willingness to hike considerable distances for photography enables us to capture pictures of scenes that the casual tourist might never see.
We often plan our travel around photography, frequently rising in the middle of the night to be in the right spot when the sun peeks up over a mountain ridge and bathes the valleys in golden hues. We aim to capture stunning views, such as:
· majestic, snow-capped peaks, bordered by aquamarine lakes;
· delicate petals of colorful wildflowers, lining the edge of a forested trail; and
· misty mountaintops outlined by the sun’s rays following an afternoon thunderstorm.
Our objective is to capture scenes that evoke emotions, tell stories, and transport the viewer to special places – including national parks, alpine trails, rocky cliffs, historic ruins, and coastal villages.
Our photographs are professionally printed by a lab in California on metal, acrylic, or canvas. We also offer an assortment of merchandise items, for people who would enjoy having our photographs on calendars, coasters, notecards, mugs, puzzles, magnets, and other objects.
We have recently moved to rural Maryland and are very happy to become part of the artistic community near our new home. We are also members of an artist’s cooperative called The Foundry Art Market in Chambersburg, PA.
We are excited about displaying our photography in the beautiful tasting room at Willow Oaks Cider during the Valley Craft Network tour, and we look forward to meeting tour visitors there in November.
